Joe Sutton is journalist and clothing entrepreneur. From the newsroom to the fashion industry, he is establishing himself as a premier voice in an almost poetic expression of his two passions: Fashion and Television.
Joe began his career at age 15 as a volunteer meteorologist at the National Weather Service. A year later, he joined CNN as an international archivist and media manager. He navigated his way to CNN’s National Content Center where he plays a leading role as a news editor covering major U.S. and international news events across CNN platforms. Joe handles wide-ranging editorial duties, which includes tackling news gathering in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico during the overnights. He has shared two Peabody Awards, for CNN’s Gulf Oil Spill coverage and CNN’s Arab Springs coverage in the Middle East and North Africa.
Sutton’s news coverage has included the death of Muhammad Ali; the Orlando nightclub shooting; the death of musician David Bowie; the death of “Fast and Furious” star Paul Walker; the Ebola scare in the U.S.; the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri; actor Tracy Morgan’s near fatal car accident; Superstorm Sandy; the Colorado movie theater shootings; the Sandy Hook shootings; the extramarital affair of Gen. David Petraeus, who was then head of the CIA; the fall of champion cyclist Lance Armstrong; the Boston Marathon bombings; the downfall of former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and the involvement of Alex Rodriguez and other Major League Baseball players in performance-enhancing drugs.
He shares this experience as a motivational speaker who inspires and teaches young people how to achieve success in corporate America. He was selected to travel to Los Angeles to cover the 2013 Academy Awards for CNN. He has also interviewed many celebrities and other entertainment figures while covering news stories involving celebrities.
Joe Sutton has also been recognized for his sense of style. He has evolved into one of the premier connoisseurs of male fashion trends. He has modeled and hosted events for major retailers in Georgia.
Sutton accepted two major appointments in the LGBT community. He formerly served on the GLAAD Atlanta Leadership Council and actively serves on Turner Broadcasting’s TurnOut Atlanta Leadership Council.
Joe is a former member of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Sutton’s love of fashion propelled him to launch a distinctive men’s line known as Joe Sutton Collection.
Joe is a native of Atlanta. He graduated from Oglethorpe University with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Political Science.
